Out of the proverbial box, SharePoint 2010 provides a plethora of features and services. You could say: “A feature is just a feature and a service is just a service”. But when that SharePoint feature needs to be activated and that SharePoint service must be started, then they move to the top of the list. And did you know there are at least 94 SharePoint features and services in a fully-configured SharePoint installation?
All of this means that there’s a lot to love about SharePoint 2010. But it’s got a big, complex switchboard.
Over the past few months I have been researching and writing a white paper that covers vital integration issues for using SharePoint 2010 technologies. It addresses a critical need that was identified during Beta testing by small and big customers alike. This white paper, Understanding and troubleshooting SharePoint 2010 technology features and services, helps you:
- Understand which SharePoint 2010 edition or other products you need to use specific SharePoint features.
- Understand which SharePoint features to activate and the related services that must also be started.
- Troubleshoot SharePoint feature and service functionality that is missing or does not work.
- Troubleshoot other important features that are not behaving as expected and might require re-configuration.
Whether you are an information worker, administrator, or developer, this white paper will help you understand better how to get the most out of SharePoint features and services and fix problems that might arise when using SharePoint 2010.
You can download it from here. All feedback is welcome.
